Laser Treatments

Here at Breidenbach Family & Sports Chiropractic, we use a level IV MLS (Multiwave Locked System) Laser therapy from Cutting Edge Technologies. MLS Laser Therapy is a patented, FDA approved, therapy that uses red and ultra red light that works to eliminate pain and reduce inflammation in the body in a safe, painless and non-invasive way.

Here at Breidenbach Family & Sports Chiropractic, we use Laser Therapy to commonly treat:

  • Back pain
  • Knee pain
  • Shoulder pain
  • Ankle pain
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Tendonitis
  • Fractures
  • Muscle strains

Patients that are treated with Laser Therapy may feel improved conditions after 1 to 3 treatments. For patients with chronic conditions, it may take up to 6 treatments to feel the benefits of Laser Therapy.

The benefits of Laser Therapy are:

Anti-Inflammatory

Laser Therapy has an anti-edema effect as it leads to vasodilation, and activates the lymphatic drainage system which leads to an increase in drainage. As a result, there is a decrease in swelling caused by bruising or inflammation.

Rapid pain relief

Laser Therapy has a beneficial effect on nerve cells. It blocks pain transmitted by the cells in the treated area to the brain which decreases nerve sensitivity. In addition, there is a production of high levels of pain killing chemicals such as endorphins and enkephalin from the brain andthe adrenal gland which is another pain blocking mechanism.

Promotes tissue repair and growth

Photons of light from lasers penetrate deep into the tissue and accelerate cellular repair and growth. The light from the laser increases the energy available to the cell so the cell can take in nutrients faster and get rid of waste products. As a result of the laser treatment, damaged cells are repaired faster.

Stimulates the immune system

Light from the laser has a direct impact on the immune system by stimulating immunoglobulins and lymphocytes. Laser emissions are absorbed by chromophores (molecule enzymes) that react to laser light. Upon exposure to the laser, the enzyme flavomononucleotide is activated and starts the production of ATP (adenosine-triphosphate), which is the major carrier of cell energy and the main energy source for all chemical reactions in the cells.

Accelerated wound healing

Laser light stimulates fibroblast development in damaged tissue. Fibroblasts are the building blocks of collagen, which is the essential protein required to replace old tissue or to repair tissue injuries. As a result, Laser Therapy treatments are an effective post surgical treatment and help repair open wounds and burns.
